Dear Fellow Members of the Ukrainian Community and Friends of Bobriwka. This is an opportunity for you to become a part in the next chapter of The Rebirth of Bobriwka! Our forefathers had the vision and the courage to purchase Bobriwka in the early 1950s, so that our Fellow Ukrainians would have a place to recreate and enjoy the unspoiled wilderness that many said reminded them of the sprawling forests of the Karpaty.
In the last 15 years Bobriwka has turned a major corner. Many of its members have donated countless hours of hard labor and/or spent thousands of dollars to get us to the point where our upgraded facility is now attracting weekend-long weddings! Recent renovations include:
- Ozero repair (re-grading, new overflow pipes and beach stabilization)
- Kooxnya (Mess Hall) upgrades: new siding, windows and foundation where required
- Interior remodeling of both Yellow House and Log Cabin for rentals (including new
interior walls, flooring, paint, windows, bathrooms and heating systems)
- Demolition of existing Bathhouse and construction of a new cinder block facility
including toilets, sinks and showers with on-demand hot water
- All roads on the main campus were upgraded with compacted gravel (including 2 new
defined parking areas)
- Creation of 12 RV camping spots (complete with hookups for water and power)
- Completion of 4 new Members Cabins (with two more scheduled for this year!)
The current Bobriwka Board of Directors is excited to continue this legacy as we announce plans to expand and update Bobriwka’s current main campus. The master plan includes:
Building an addition to the Kooxnya that includes expanded seating, more wall space for future camp plaques, an indoor/outdoor stage and a handicap accessible bathroom
Update our electrical and water supply infrastructure
Install additional septic with grease separator at the Mess Hall kitchen
Continue to expand, repair and upgrade our system of roads
Replace the temporary band shell with multi-purpose outdoor pavilion
Stabilize the existing Barracks and investigate re-purposing the building
Redesign the Ozero drainage system and build a gazebo overlooking the Amazonka
These upgrades are necessary to facilitate the growing needs of our supportive Ukrainian organizations as well as to further accommodate our rental base:
Our largest supporter has outgrown our current facility; Bandura at Bobriwka Reunion has enjoyed what our campus has to offer for years. Starting with 11 students in 2010, they have grown to a group of 90+ participants that have maxed out our current stage!
The Orlando Pagan Ukrainian School of Dance Workshop is promising to follow suit. Their attendance has doubled since their debut performance last summer!
A pillar of Bobriwka summers, the Cheezic Tang Soo Do Korean Karate Federation will be marking their 28th consecutive year at our campus!
Bobriwka’s goal is to accommodate all of our Ukrainian community, and more! In addition to embellishing potential for: CYM, PLAST, XMELI, Choir Lanka Halychanka, SICH, Chornomortsi, Krayanny and Ukrainian Schools, these upgrades will further appeal to our ever increasing rental base. It is these rentals that pay our taxes, insurance and utilities as well as continued maintenance of the facility we provide. The proposed improvements will also make us competitive with local outdoor venues for family events and weddings.
We are announcing this fund raising initiative and humbly appeal to ALL:
Bobriwka Members
Shareholders
Friends of Bobriwka
Ukrainian Youth Groups
the general Ukrainian Community
AND……. Anyone that has enjoyed Bobriwka in the past!
Please recognize this opportunity and consider donating to this worthwhile undertaking. Plans are to start construction in Spring of 2019 (or sooner if funds become available!!). We are seeking a total of $120,000 for a project of this scale. Individual donations will have an opportunity to memorialize their contribution on a prominent benefactor display.
Our commitment to continuing Bobriwka’s evolution is an extension of our forefathers’ dreams for Bobriwka to provide our Ukrainian Community a place to recreate in an unspoiled wilderness.
We are very grateful for your consideration and generous support.
Thank you,
-Bobriwka Board of Directors
